On 16th January 2019, Microsoft India announced establishment of Artificial Intelligence (AI) labs in 10 universities to train five lakh youth across India in disrupting technologies. The company is looking forward to raising more than 10,000 developers in the upcoming three years. More than 700 partners are playing a supporting role in the AI ecosystem. Earlier in December 2018, Microsoft announced a three-year "Intelligent Cloud Hub" collaborative programme in India for strengthening institutes to groom students in AI and Cloud technologies.

Microsoft said it is seeing faster transformation across businesses in India and that is resulting in a sharp rise in demand.

Microsoft also started Intelligent Cloud Hub Program to equip research and higher education institutions with AI infrastructure, build curriculum and help both faculty and students to build their skills and expertise in cloud computing, data sciences, AI and IoT.

Microsoft India has created four pillars - enabling digital transformation, building coalitions for responsible innovation, bridging the skills gap and enhancing employability and creating sustained social impact.

“We believe AI will enable Indian businesses and more for India's progress, especially in education, skilling, healthcare, and agriculture. Microsoft also believes that it is imperative to build higher awareness and capabilities on security, privacy, trust, and accountability.
