On 21st January 2019, Manipur, Meghalaya & Tripura celebrated their 47th

Statehood Day. In 1972 all these three states acquired their full-fledged form

under the North Eastern Region (Reorganisation) Act, 1971. In the past the

princely states of Tripura and Manipur were merged into the Indian Union in

October 1949 and became full-fledged states on January 21, 1972, while

Meghalaya was part of Assam before becoming an independent state. Meghalaya

observed a week-long programme on the theme, 'Celebrating Meghalaya-India',

while Tripura vowed to acquire a drug (ganja) free status and Manipur is looking

forward to all-round development of state on the occasion.
